at the 50th convocation of IIT Bombay Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addressing the the meeting said that India needs national leaders from the fields of Engineering and science and not just from Politics, Cinema and sports.
Addressing the Golden jubileee convocation Manmohan Singh said “We have increased investment in education and research, we have opened new elite institutions like IIT’s and IIMs and also increased scholarships so that children can get best education closer to home…Many of the best students from IIT’s are moving away from engineering to management,finance and marketing but these students have lot to contribute to the engineering core areas”
