Since, weightage is also given to students’ performance in boards, the MHRD notification said the students who have appeared for their class XII in 2012 and wish to improve upon their performance can re-appear for their boards in 2013. The Central Board of Secondary Education and the state boards would make appropriate arrangements to facilitate this through a special dispensation.

Reportedly, 40% weightage is given to XII board marks for admission to NITs and other centrally funded institutes. There will be only one entrance exam JEE Main for admission in these institutes. Merit list will be prepared with 40% weightage to XII board results and 60% weightage to JEE Main Exam.
To get admission to IIT Merit list will be prepared with JEE Advanced score but there is a top 20 percentile eligibility criteria to get admission into IIT.
